2018 Mountain Yoga Retreat

I am delighted to be able to offer another week of kriyas, asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra in the beautiful retreat centre, Hidden Paradise. Set in the southern Sierra Nevada, over 1000 metres above sea level, the week will include a guided group walk to the Buddhist retreat centre O Sel Ling and the opportunity for local walks into the Sierra Nevada National Park, to the nearby village of Canar and to the nearest town of Orgiva.

Rupert and Julia who run the centre offer the warmest of hospitality with great warmth and love. They are both on hand to help as and when required. Rupert has created the beauty and stillness of Hidden Paradise and Julia will provide us with the most delicious and nutritious vegetarian meals during our week’s stay. Any particular dietary requirement is catered for. Some of the produce is from the centre’s organic garden. We will receive deep nourishment on all levels.

The centre itself offers spectacular views of the mountains and a direct view to the Mediterranean Sea. Accommodation is either in stone houses, tree houses or bedrooms within the main house. Single occupancy supplement is available (payable to Rupert in euros on arrival).

The entire centre is solar powered and water is from a nearby spring. The yoga studio is a beautifully crafted circular wooden space with an amazing view down the valley towards the sea.

There is a heated swimming pool, a wood fired sauna and a small library of books. Massage therapists are available throughout the week and treatments can be booked on arrival.

Three yoga sessions a day will be available (see below for proposed programme). Stillness, silence and inner reflection will be encouraged throughout the week, as well as times of laughter and sharing. I will be available most afternoons for 1:1 sessions to discuss any aspects of individual process/practice.

A five hour guided moderate walk through the mountains one day will take us to a special Tara statue situated just above The Buddhist centre O Sel Ling. After a meditation and packed lunch we will return either by foot or by taxi to Hidden Paradise.

I would recommend that trips to the Alhambra or other main attractions are organised before or after the retreat. Trips to local towns or villages can be arranged from Hidden Paradise in the afternoons or anytime throughout the day if you are happy to miss a practice session.

We will have silence from 9pm until after breakfast each day and at least one day’s full silence during our week’s stay.
